The China Study book describes the correlation between eating animal products and disease in humans.

If you like to dive into research-heavy studies, then The China Study, by T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D., and his son, Thomas Campbell II, is right up your alley. The title is based on comparative research conducted on diets in rural China versus the Western diet.

Here are a few quotes from the book that stood out to me:

“Too often in the US, a doctor’s treatment decisions are based on the basis of money, not health. We pay more for healthcare than any other country in the world.”

“Eating the right way not only prevents disease but also generates health and a sense of well-being, both physically and mentally.”

“I have come to see that the benefits produced by eating a plant-based diet are far more diverse and impressive than any drug or surgery used in medical practice. Heart disease, cancers, diabetes, stroke and hypertension, arthritis, cataracts, Alzheimer’s disease, impotence, and all sorts of other chronic diseases can be largely prevented. These diseases, which generally occur with aging and tissue degeneration, kill the majority of us before our time.”

The father and son authors did a great job simplifying the science behind the study to make it understandable. It uncovers a lot of interesting (and concerning) information about how the science and nutrition industries are corrupt.  This makes it extremely difficult for us to know what we should be eating.

Despite the evidence the authors uncovered, they don’t want you to obsess over what you eat. This book is highly recommended by many nutritionists, naturopathic doctors, and vegans.
